Robert Borland started this petition to Alaska Alcoholic Beverage Control Board

Alaska's Alcoholic Beverage Control Board will be voting to enact 3AAC304.390, a new regulation to further limit how Breweries, Distilleries, and Wineries can bring business into their establishments. The proposed regulation will effectively cut these licensees off at the knees by outlawing any type of organized event or social gathering at these establishments.

This new regulation will outlaw simple, benign events such as First Friday Art openings, cocktail classes, presentations, charitable events, and really any type of social gathering at these locations. Outlawing these events serves no real purpose and will have zero impact on protecting public health, safety, and welfare in Alaska. It is illegal to create a regulation such as this (sec, 04.06.100), as the board can only adopt regulations that are consistent with Title 4 and that necessary to carry out the purpose of Title 4 in a manner that will protect the public health, safety, and welfare.

The proposed regulation is brought to you by a small special interest group that seeks to limit perceived competition with their businesses. Alaska's Brewers, Distillers, and Wine makers work hard on crafting their Alaskan products and work hard at providing consumers with nice, safe premises in which they can enjoy these products, and be part of a community.

We need YOU to speak up, and let the ABC Board that what the are trying to do is not in the best interest of the communities that they are serving. If this regulation passes as written, it will effectively wipe out Alaska's local tasting room scene. Please help us out, won't you?
