PWDs in the Philippines are given little to no support from both the government and the private sector. Disabled persons are often turned away from work or even educational opportunities due to their disability, PWDs cards are the most notable if not sole form of governmental support for PWDs, and day-to-day structures and public transport lack accessibility. This system has been ignored and brushed under the carpet for far too long, and resulted in the discrimination and exclusion of countless Filipino PWDs.

This petition was created in order to demand accessibility and empowerment for our fellow PWDs and to call upon the government to create ample legislation and to encourage the private sector to make the Philippines socially, economically, and politically PWD-friendly. We address this petition to our current Speaker of the House, Alan Peter Cayetano, and Senate President, Vicente “Tito” Castelo Sotto III and ask them to acknowledge the call of the PWDs and give them the support that they have so long been without.
