Police Reform in America

Police Reform in America
I believe that police reform is a necessary accomplishment that all Americans should support. Whether or not you think that police brutality, violence, and injustice is an issue, police reform is crucial to making this country a safer place. While it is important to understand that the police do have a dangerous job, it is also important to emphasize that they take an oath to serve and protect their individual communities. Although this oath exists and is enforced throughout every single police force in America, not all officers act as though they have to. Police brutality, violence, and injustice has been rising steadily in America throughout the decades. Minority groups are disproportionately affected by police injustice in this country. By reforming the police institutions in America, we can all help make a change in everyone's life. Did you know that it takes a hairdresser longer to get their credentials than a police officer? (Hairdresser: 18 months, Police Officer: 6 months) By creating police training more vigorous and thorough, police officers will have more training and keep their neighborhoods safer. Conflict management training, physiological reaction training, firearm management skills and self-defense skills can be the key to making police forces safer for the country.
