Democracy Matters started this petition to Alabama Senators and

People in the United States have been systematically expelled from participating in politics.  Due to the unfair amounts of big money in elections, unfair maps drawing districts that favor candidates not citizens, unaccountable candidates and parties taking money from unknown donors and breaking laws meant to deter corruption, this list goes on.

Students at Alabama State University, "founded in 1867, in Marion, Ala., as a school for African-Americans", live with the impact of a rigged election system every day.  Our school "started as the Lincoln Normal School with $500 raised by nine freed slaves now known as the Marion Nine, making ASU one of the nation's oldest institutions of higher education founded for black Americans."  If we are to have accurate and responsible representation in our President, Congress and even in our state representatives, we need the For The People Act (S.1.) to pass in the Senate.

Our voices deserve to be heard. They are not in our currently rigged election system.  We will not stay silent as our past screams for redemption.

We know access, integrity, getting big money out of politics and ending corruption in our election systems need to start NOW.
