After years of verbal, physical, and mental abuse, my sister was shot 5 times by her ex-husband in May of 1987. My sister, Drenda Scroggin Jacobs, was at the pool in her neighborhood with her 9 year old daughter. Jefferson Scroggin came to the pool, shot her, and then sat with her until the police arrived. He told my sister it would be worth him spending the rest of his life in jail to watch her die.
My sister was a strong and fierce lady who overcame this tragic event. She was a quadriplegic for the rest of her life, but used her situation to be a light and voice for women and victims of violence. In 2001, she passed away from complications from her paralysis.
Jefferson Scroggin has come up for parole 1997, 2000, 2005, 2010, 2013 and again in 2018. Please help us keep him where he knew he’d go- in prison.
