The gentrification that is becoming common in Austin leads to high-income, privileged, and predominantly white families moving to low-income areas. They often put their children into private schools. Private schools gaining students means that public schools are loosing students, which means these public schools get less money from the state. Public schools in low-income areas are in need of more resources.
