With Covid-19 spreading around the world, it is time to remember that a simple act of respiratory hygiene can help prevent others from getting sick. Covering your cough reduces the spread of germs. Human to human transmission frequently comes from the droplets that coughing and sneezing release.

Being in an enclosed metal tube 30,000+ feet in the air is a fertile environment for infections. There is little space between passengers and no open air for droplets to disperse away. While we shouldn't stop people who are sick from flying, we can kindly remind them to be considerate of others by covering their cough.

As with anything safety related to an airplane, it must start with the airline. The goal of this petition is simple. Get airlines to add “cover your cough” to their flight safety instructions. Either the video that plays or the presentation that flight attendants give before taking off would accomplish this goal.
