Problem
Denver is ranked 14th in the country for most polluted air, primarily due to vehicle emissions. This contributes to climate change.

Solution
Environment Colorado is working to urge the Air Quality Control Commission to adopt the zero-emission vehicle standards (ZEV). This program has been adopted in 10 other states and encourages the sale of electric cars. This program would clean up the air, consumers would have more choices of car models increasing the competition (which could lead to a decrease in price of electric cars), private investment in next generation emission vehicle technology goes to ZEV states, and the consumer saves money overall. Emission vehicles are cheaper to maintain and operate, lifetime fuel savings could total more than $4000, total fuel savings of over $500 million, and Colorado's utility customers could see savings of over $50 million per year.
