Discounted flights for parents that live apart from their children

Every parent wants to spend as much time with their children as possible. But when those parents and children live apart in different towns/cities it can sometimes feel frustrating, deflating and disheartening.

I have a 7 year old daughter living in the North Island, where I live in the south Island. Every school holidays she has a return flight booked, but due to the cost of travel, we can only do the school holiday period. In an ideal world, I would love to have her every weekend or second weekend.

Although I get to see her in the school holidays, I miss out on the everyday high's and lows, when she's sick, when she's excited about an event, when she's happy. It's just not the same as being a full-time parent.

It would a huge help for parents and their children if Air New Zealand and other airlines offer discounted flights for regular unaccompanied minor travel. It would make a huge difference in both the parents and children's lives.

@ Air New Zealand, I know there have been a few parents asking for this... Hopefully with this, we can get enough numbers together to make it happen!
