Air-Conditioning in all White Plains Public Schools!

LET'S MAKE OUR SCHOOLS COOL! Every school, every classroom deserves a cool environment to learn.

In April 2017, NYC Public Schools were promised air conditioning in all classrooms why should White Plains Schools deserve less? Every year our students and teachers are subjected to HOT classrooms due to limited air-conditioning! Why should there be air-conditioning in only certain schools or in only certain classrooms or in only designated common spaces? How can our teachers teach effectively and our children learn under such uncomfortable circumstances? Please sign and share this petition with all White Plains Schools because every school, every classroom, every child deserves a cool environment to learn!

  • "Providing air conditioning in all classrooms is an important investment in the health, academic success and quality of life of our youngest New Yorkers,” said Council Member Julissa Ferreras-Copeland, Chair of the Finance Committee.
  • "I saw firsthand how sweltering classrooms distract students from actual learning," said Council Member Daniel Dromm, Chair of the Education Committee.
  • "As a former educator, I have seen firsthand how poor ventilation and uncomfortable temperatures can negatively impact the learning process. It makes paying attention in class and staying alert difficult for students while creating undue stress for teachers and school staff," said Council Member Mark Treyger.
