Indian football has been developing over the years gone by. However, compared to the other Asian countries, we are yet to be the powerhouse that we were in yesteryears. This, however, can be changed if the government of India, in collaboration with the All India Football Federation, allow players who are of Indian origin, but have another nationality, to play for the country. This can be achieved if the government is willing to amend it's laws on citizenship and dual citizenship. According to the present law, a person without an Indian passport cannot represent the country in any sport. Hence players who have played professionally in the top flight, like Narsingh of Swansea City and Danny Batth, captain of the recently promoted English side, Wolverhampton Wanderers. If our country was allowed to field such players, then there is no doubt that our country might soon be finally able to achieve its dream of playing in the FIFA world cup. This is surely achievable, but with a support and help of the Indian government, the AIFF, and the football crazy fans of our country.
