Ban Glyphosate in British Columbia
0 have signed. Let’s get to 25,000.
Glyphosate - a popular herbicide - is being questioned internationally due to safety and health concerns, yet it is still widely used in Canada.
Scientist Stephanie Seneff of MIT says: "I believe glyphosate will go down in history as the most damaging toxic chemical ever used in agriculture. Its insidious cumulative toxicity has allowed it to stay on the market for four decades, wreaking havoc on nearly all lifeforms on earth."
Meanwhile, the province of British Columbia, Canada, now has a new government, a coalition between the New Democratic Party (NDP) and the Green Party. This is a first in Canada where the environmentally conscious Green Party holds the balance of power.
The new agriculture minister, Ms Lana Popham, of NDP, had been a promoter of clean organic food and supporter of pushing back at GMO and herbicides in agriculture. I have met and somewhat known her from the time when she was an MLA in the opposition bench under the liberal government for two terms.
We need our new agriculture minister to step up and ban the use of harmful glyphosate in BC agriculture. Let’s lead by example for the rest of Canada.
This petition is not aimed solely at residents of British Columbia. Since this beautiful western province is a major tourist destination for people within Canada as well as from the United States and the wider world, we are asking everybody everywhere, to chip in, sign the petition, and also write individually to the agriculture minister (AGR.Minister@gov.bc.ca) that you wish to have clean, glyphosate-free food when you next visit this beautiful land.
With Lana Popham as agriculture minister, we now have the chance to make this happen. If you want to see a glyphosate-free BC, please sign and share this petition.
A few things to know about glyphosate:
World Health Organization says It is probably carcinogenic.
How safe? Nobody knows. Government is hiding the data.
How much of it is in our food? Too much, read the book.
Whats the news? California calls it cancer causing.
And France votes NO to renewal of license for glyphosate.

Ban Glyphosate in British Columbia
To The Agriculture Minister of British Columbia, Ms Lana Popham
Subject: Ban Glyphosate
Congratulations on being appointed as the agriculture minister of British Columbia. We hope you, the current provincial government and the civil society will together be able to push back at the chemical onslaught bring brought to us through glyphosate (Roundup) in our foods.
You are aware that glyphosate is far and away the most used herbicide in Canadian agriculture. You are likely aware that CFIA tests of near 8,000 foods from all over the world, collected in Canada, and analyzed in my book “Poison Foods of North America” shows that glyphosate contamination is the highest in foods produced in Canada and USA. (link https://www.amazon.ca/POISON-FOODS-NORTH-AMERICA-navigating-ebook/dp/B06XS4Y6H2/ref=sr_1_1
You are aware of the runaway epidemic of childhood autism and other gut and auto-immune related illnesses that our younger generation is subjected to today, and where increasing amount of evidence is coming up on their near certain link with glyphosate.
You are aware that, it is a broad spectrum antimicrobial agent that can wreck our digestive system. Also you are likely aware that glyphosate mimics glycine, an essential amino acid and building block of life, and hence our body likely mis-incorporates glyphosate into our proteins in place of glycine and that these rogue proteins are suspected to be the cause of a cascading series of illnesses.
You are likely also aware that the Ottawa government has never released any original safety test data and documents, based on which it decided glyphosate was safe to be approved. You are also likely aware that it is illegal to approve a product while withholding its safety data.
You are perhaps also aware that the Sri Lanka Government has banned the use of glyphosate on sugarcane since the field workers started dying from liver failure ever since the practice of using glyphosate on sugarcane crops was started.
Lastly, you are likely aware that the French Government has decided to say ‘no’ to EU’s renewal of license for any herbicide that uses glyphosate as its active ingredient, and that a ‘no’ vote from France and other EU countries almost ensures that EU is likely to end its approval of this dangerous molecule for use in European agriculture.
In view of all above, we the people are asking you to find ways to push back at the use of glyphosate in British Columbian agriculture, and to seek ways to ban its use outright in our fields.
We the people demand that your government does everything possible to push back and ban the use of Glyphosate irrespective of the fact that its use has been approved by the our federal government in Ottawa.
