Throughout our country, people of a certain age leave the work place. Why? They are tired, have medical concerns, lose physical strength and mobility, are not as mentally sharp as they were at their prime, or to make room for the next generation. Some are forced to retire at a given age!  Why do we have members of our Congress - Senators and Representatives who have suffered strokes, heart attacks, Parkinson’s Disease, Dementia, and/ or in their middle 70s OR higher still representing the US???

There should be an age limit for Congress. Whether Republican or Democratic age is important. You have to be a certain age to hold office. There should definitely be an age to leave office. Don’t get me wrong, there are a lot of sharp older adults; but after a certain age (70- earlier for some) they are just not as sharp as they should be. Times have changed!  We shouldn’t have any Congressmen who were alive doing the times of Presidents Roosevelt, Truman, Eisenhower.   Why?

1.)Times are different. Freedoms and rights have changed. We have become a global economy and cannot service as the true leader of the world with old, antiquated views and actions.

2. Physical aches and conditions attack those who are older. You cannot function as you could at ages 30-70. Strokes, heart attacks , other neurological problems appear. You lose your mental sharpness  Older adults are even forced to take tests to keep their driver’s license.  We have Congressional members who no longer can walk, have voice and hand tremors.  They are no longer physically or mentally fit to serve!

3.). Thé longer you remain in any governmental position - you lose your objectivity. You stop working for «  the people.”   You are now working for yourself, your pride, your power, whatever is of benefit for YOU the individual. 

immediate action is needed. Politicians of both parties have loss focus!  All things eventually come to an end. All politicians- at local, state, federal levels should have age limits!,,
