Clifford Smith started this petition to AFRICAN NATIONAL CONGRESS and

The South African economy & public are being subjected to ongoing, economically crippling power outages as the state owned power producer, Eskom, fails repeatedly to maintain a steady supply of electricity.

It is clear that this is set to continue for many months, if not years.

The SA economy is on the verge of open recession and we are about to topple into full blown junk bond status despite the very benevolent efforts of the rating agencies to delay that inevitability.

Several Independent Power Producers (IPP's) have announced that they are ready, willing and able to feed additional power into the grid to alleviate the disaster - a move that will save thousands of jobs and slow down the demise of our national economy.

All that is required is the go-ahead of national government to hook up the IPP's to the national grid and start supplying electricity.

It is the reasonable, logical, intelligent, obvious thing to do but it seems our politicians are apparently oblivious to the plight of millions of South Africans.

Hook up the IPP's immediately to the grid without further delay.

Save South Africa from economic collapse.
