The idea of Marcus Garvey Bronze Sculpture Project was initiated as a result of a meeting held at the African Union Headquarters in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia in the office of His Excellency Kwesi Quartey, the Deputy Chairperson of the African Union Commission on November 11, 2019.  During the meeting between H.E. Kwesi Quartey and the Executive Director of the Pan African Technical Association, Mr. Yaw Frederick Davis and PATA colleagues, Mr. Bekalu Tesfaye and Ms. Samantha Jackson, the statues of H.I.M. Haile Selassie and Dr. Kwame Nkurmah were discussed.  H.E. Kwesi Quartey stated that he would love to see a statue of the Right Excellent Honorable Marcus Garvey here at the African Union.  At the age of 11 years old, Mr. Davis became a member of the organization founded by Mr. Garvey, the Universal Negro Improvement Association and African Communities League (UNIA & ACL), so Mr. Davis enthusiastically agreed with the idea and the Marcus Garvey Bronze Sculpture Project was born.

The Pan African Technical Association has joined forces with Dr. Julius Garvey, the youngest son of the Right Excellent Honorable Marcus Garvey, Strictly Roots and the renowned Los Angeles artist Mr. Nijel Binns to create the Marcus Garvey Bronze.  The clay bust of the Bronze is as shown.  The completion date is March 1, 2021.
