I feel African american history should be a requirement in high schools. It is just as important as American history and it should be a requirement to learn about what happened to black people. We try to white wash slavery and segregation to make it sound better then what actually happened because we're ashamed of what we use to do, but it did happen and everyone should be required to know the truth ab how america treated slaves. You shouldn't have the option to learn about how black people were tortured and humiliated for hundreds of years. It should be required. Having this knowledge be required may help people not be so ignorant in the way they think and speak. It's not even just about slavery it's about getting to know and understand how black people use to live.
