Why this petition matters

Started by Rosa Kay

Slavery is one of the worst evils that has happened in our world. It lasted for over 600 years, and the aftermath and injustices are still in play to this day. To this day, there is, in fact modern slavery of Africans still going on in our world.

As an African, it saddens me that African leaders are not doing much towards bringing awareness of African Americans’ slavery.

Africa has a role to play in making sure that the horrors of slavery never happen again, and that we keep these historic atrocities in the center-memory of African history.

This is a petition for an African International day of slavery that should be recognized throughout the entire continent of Africa. African leaders have a responsibility to make sure that every African now, and the future generations of Africans never forget how our ancestors (African Americans) suffered those 600 years and beyond.

Africans must never forget how some of our ancestors played a huge part in the suffering of our other ancestors in foreign lands. Africa has a responsibility to make sure the world never forgets. Sign the petition today to get African leaders to recognize an "African International Slavery Day" to bring awareness for not just the Slavery that happened those 600 years, but also for the slavery that is happening now . Please show your support by signing and sharing this petition. Thank you so much.
