Ryan Haney started this petition to AFL-CIO

To: AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka, Secretary-Treasurer Liz Shuler, and Executive Vice President Tefere Gebre

We are union members, organizers, and labor activists who wish to express our disappointment in the national AFL-CIO for deciding to cancel the Orlando, Florida Presidential Forum with no plan to reformat it or allow for union members to engage in this important process.

We take the issue of Coronavirus very seriously, but the age of digital media allows us readily available alternatives that would not present a public health hazard, such as a livestreamed virtual forum where candidates can participate from wherever they happen to be on the campaign trail.

We cannot let this incredibly important election go by without candidates directly addressing the issues that matter most to organized labor. Predictably, the corporate media networks have failed to ask about "Right To Work," the makeup of the National Labor Relations Board, card check union recognition, or the deepening multi-employer pension crisis.

We demand that an alternative forum be set up as soon as possible by the AFL-CIO so that frontrunners Vice President Joe Biden and Senator Bernie Sanders address our issues in a publicly accessible manner.
