This time of crisis at Sherman Hospital has been very challenging for everyone. The uncertainty and insufficient information has compounded everyone’s insecurities. But through this disaster, there has been one shining star: Dr. Irene Wu.

She is Chairman of Surgery at Sherman hospital, and she has remained impartial and non judgmental despite the catastrophe of the entire OR being shut down. She has been a tireless advocate for both patients and physicians of the Sherman community. She puts the needs of the community above all else. She has been a consistently reliable source of information through these desperate times. It Is Dr. Wu’s leadership during this period which has kept the medical staff hopeful and united for better days at Sherman. This is all in addition to providing full time excellent patient care as an AMG General Surgeon. 

She truly stands out as a physician leader. Advocate Aurora should be proud to have found such a uniquely gifted and charismatic person as part of the AAH team. She should be commended for her exemplary efforts in this crisis. We hope that she will continue to pursue physician leadership positions as this type of leadership will take us to the next level!
