Re-instate Fired Union Leader Diane Zimmer

Last Thursday, June 7th, Advocate Medical Group fired Nurse Practitioner and Illinois Nurses Association union leader, Diane Zimmer, for speaking to fellow nurses about the union on her own free time, i.e. protected union activity. We demand that AMG President Vincent Bufalino step in and immediately re-instate Diane Zimmer to her position.

Diane and her family are going through a rough time. She's the mother of four children, two of whom have special needs. She is also a cancer survivor. When she got home after being fired, her son offered to change schools in case they might not be able to afford his school now that she lost her job. The idea that her child must worry about his education just because Diane stood up for safe staffing and equality at work is absolutely infuriating.

AMG's actions are even more infuriating considering Diane is also one of the most dedicated nurse practitioners in this clinic system, with hundreds of hours of paid time off never taken due to her commitment to never leaving the clinic understaffed. AMG has failed its nurse practitioners by engaging in scare tactics, it has failed the community it proposes to serve by terminating one of its most dedicated nurses, and it has broken the law by terminating a union leader for simply speaking to her coworkers. AMG President Vincent Bufalino we once again demand that you re-instate Diane Zimmer immediately and stop engaging in fear tactics and union busting.
