Advocate for Bobbi Bolton's Law Licensing by the CA Bar Examiners

Advocate for Bobbi Bolton's Law Licensing by the CA Bar Examiners
The Issue
Bobbi Bolton has chosen much sacrifice to pursue her dreams. For 15 years, she has dedicated her life to becoming a licensed attorney, demonstrating an incomparable determination. She closed her successful business, sold several properties, and made countless other sacrifices. She went on to receive her juris doctorate, pass the CA bar exam, the professional responsibility exam, and this is her third application to the CA bar examiners, the first being in 2010, spanning over 14 YEARS!! All of this, anticipating the fulfillment of a dream she was repeatedly told was within her grasp: becoming licensed.
Now, it’s our time to support Bobbi Bolton in her dreams and call upon the California Bar Examiners to provide her with the deserved chance to become a licensed professional. The State Bar of California, in their 2019 report, revealed that less than 31% of all first-time exam takers were granted their licenses. Yet each of these individuals have all devoted significant portions of their lives to their legal studies and training, much like Bobbi. Bobbi has had a tumultuous past, was on her own since 15, and has a criminal past. However, she has turned her life around and lived a successful life in society for over the past 22 years. Furthermore, the new second chance act passed by legislature in 2023 is clearing all criminal records which are over four years, Bobbi's are over 22 years, certainly this should be taken into account since this new bill emphatically states "this reform offers a fresh start for many Golden Staters who have served their time and are committed to rebuilding their lives" (Senate Bill 731).
The aim of this petition is not to challenge the authority of the California Bar Examiners, but to highlight Bobbi’s unwavering dedication, her sacrifices, her resilience and most importantly, her deserved opportunity to obtain her law license. Let us put our signatures together to make Bobbi Bolton's dream come true. We urge the California Bar Examiners to give Bobbi Bolton the chance she has earned, by granting her the license she has worked so painstakingly for. Please sign and share this petition to extend support for Bobbi Bolton's noble journey. Bobbi is being represented by Ronda Dixon, of Dixon Justice Center, Los Angeles, CA.
