In Chicago, according to census data, about 1 out of 10 Chicago residents are living in extreme poverty, and many of those people are completely homeless. When we get enough signatures on this petition, we are going to send this petition to Lori Lightfoot and hope that it makes an impact. Ms. Lightfoot has been focusing on creating affordable housing on land that has nothing on it, instead of focusing on housing that is already built, which could save a lot of time and money. If Ms. Lightfoot focused on creating affordable housing on previously built housing, the mayor could cover more areas such as neighborhoods without vacant plots.
