Akash Khan started this petition to CCSD Clark County School District

The dress code in CCSD, as we know, is primarily targeted at young girls.  It happens to others often as well, but the majority of the time it is the female student body.

As everyone knows, school dress codes are infamous for being sexist, and dress codes in their concept perpetuate rape culture and shame students for their bodies.  There are thousands of studies, articles, and stories from victims themselves made public, who will explain it far better than me, so I'll assume you know exactly what I mean or will look it up.

And to the staff, if teenagers showing midriff is distracting to you, don't be around teenagers.

If ATECH does "respect" its student body and give us "certain freedoms" that make us a "special school" as Mr. Rispin said in today's announcement, then treat us with respect.  It is not the job of students to not victimize themselves and cover up, it is the responsibility of others to not assault or harass them.

We demand the administration revoke their statements pushing students to cover up this morning, and apologize.  We want the dress code gone.  Bodies are not inherently sexual.

For this to be allowed, CCSD must also edit its district-wide baseline dress code policy to only ban profanities and nudity on clothing. No student should have to endure this.
