Sara Beltran Hernandez, mother of 2, fled El Salvador due to domestic abuse. She was detained in 2015 and is being held since November 2015 in a Texas Immigrations and Custom Enfrocement Center detention center.
This month, Sara collapsed at the detention center after repeatedly complaining of headaches, nosebleeds and memory loss. She was transported to Texas Health Hugueley Hospital in Burleson, where she was diagnosed with a brain tumor that requires surgery. She was denied access to her attorney and to vital medical attention while in ICE custody. Her condition continues to worsen, with headaches, nosebleeds and other symptoms increasing.
Sara, 26, fled her native El Salvador because of the violence there to escape an abuser. She came to the United States illegally but immediately sought asylum and surrendered to authorities. She was detained because she did not have proper documentation when she intended to go to New York City to be with family. Family has also been trying too petition for her asylum.
She was removed by ICE from the hospital in restraints. Please sign petition for the humane release of Sara so that in turn she can receive the medical care she desperately needs.
