Why this petition matters

As high-school students, we are fearful to return to school. COVID-19 cases have been rising as the highly transmissible Omicron variant, continues to spread. Regardless of the precautions put in place, we do not feel safe going back to school. One example of a precaution that does not sound very convincing is the method of contact tracing. Due to the highly transmissible nature of Omicron, students and parents will only be notified of exposures if a student is away for a certain amount of time or has tested positive. The former is what students are skeptical of, as the virus will likely spread to others before the class finds out.

Switching to online learning, even temporarily, will not only ease the minds of students and parents but teachers too. Instead of worrying whether we have contracted the virus, we can focus better on our learning. We know that online learning can be harmful to students' mental health, but being in school right now is causing a lot of stress to students too. Switching to online learning, until the cases decrease and are under control, will not only benefit our mental health but physical too.

Please sign this petition to avoid the spread of COVID-19 in high-schools more so than it already is!
