Why this petition matters

Started by Faduma Abdi

The issue of adoption is that the adoption act has not been updated since 1955.There haven't been any significant changes since 1985 which is a huge issue because many people want to adopt but they are unable to due the policy being so strict that most people who want to adopt are unable to due to these strict guidelines. The adoption act needs to change and there are too many requirements that need to be changed. There are too many requirements to adopting a child and it needs to change because many people want to adopt but are not able to due to these strict guidelines. The process Prospective parents must complete the entire required document and register with a licenced adoption placement agency. The agency worker will next approach the parents to conduct a home study. After locating a suitable child, the agency will contact potential parents to arrange a meeting with the youngster. Adoption costs around $10,000, but travel, visas, passports, legal fees, translators, and other expenses can quickly add up. Following that, the adoptive pair must finish a course, a police check, a medical check, reference reports, and social worker visits.
