If you earn something you deserve to get it. This is out and out discrimination against people with special needs. Do you do this to gay and lesbian students or someone who doesn't have a documented disability? The label the school puts on the student is so that they can get more money from the government. What about inclusion? Doesn't that mean in all aspects of education. I wish I was an attorney as I would take this case on so this fine athlete can get his varsity letter. School board members make the change to allow this.

We live in a country that believes and supports equal rights and opportunities for all of its citizens. Every person who works hard to achieve a goal should be granted the same recognition that every other person receives who strives for those same goals. I would urge the Wichita School District to change their policy that denies special needs team to have letters. After all, this is America, and in our great country we should be celebrating wonderful young people like Michael Kelly and not marginalizing them.

that is so sad that a school would still be showing discrimination toward children who a different from the "norm". Do they encourage bullying too?

This is such a no-brainer, I cannot believe it is even an issue. Wake up, Wichita, and feel free to join the rest of us in the 21st century!
