Recess inclement weather practice at Whispering Hills Primary School

Research, and our own experiences, show that outdoor unstructured breaks (recess) during the school day are important to our children's learning, behaviour, social development, and happiness. We appreciate the WHPS administration's strong commitment to ensuring the safety of your students, our children; however, based on data from Environment Canada we believe that there is minimal health risk in lowering the windchill threshold. We encourage administration to investigate other options used at school divisions across the country, and reconsider the current WHPS inclement weather practice/policy to facilitate more outdoor recesses.
