Parent Choice for Masks at KCS

Parent Choice for Masks at KCS
Parents of Kendall Christian School have joined together in opposition to the indoor mask mandate for all children for the 2021-2022 school year. We are parents who feel strongly that the use of masks for our children should be optional and that medical decisions should be made by the parents, not administrators.
We, the parents of Kendall Christian, stongly oppose the mandate until there is undisputed, scientific proof that masks do not harm children in any way (including all social, psychological, physical, educational and developmental implications) and such scientific proof also provides that masks completely protect children and adults from contracting and transmitting the COVID-19 Virus and its variants.
We are a group of parents that respect and applaud the efforts of the school administration to provide a safe learning environment for our children during this pandemic, but at the same time, we strongly feel that mandatory masking is not the most efficient and/or plausible answer.
The KCS administration expressed and assured parents at the beginning of the school year that masks would be optional for students and promised that parent choice would be vital for the remainder of the school year.
Enforcement of the mask requirement without serious consideration of both the long and short term negative impacts to our children's health, development, social and psychological well being, contradicts the commitment of the Kendall Christian School policy to provide a safe and effective teaching environment.
We thus petition that such mandate be revised and that other health prevention strategies be implemented so that ALL families at KCS are protected, heard, and allowed to exercise their God given right of choosing and protecting their children to the best of their ability without posing harm to each other.
We also stand committed to be part of the solution, to work diligently to accommodate all families and to serve in humbleness as Christ commands us and exhorts us to do so.
