As a student of the College of Southern Maryland, we are being forced to receive a faulty vaccine or receive weekly mandatory testing even if participating in strictly online classes. It is important that we as students stand up to this mandate that will succeed at nothing more except aiding and giving profit to corrupt pharmaceutical companies who have made a vaccine that has shown to have many bad side effects for young people and has not even done as they have advertised. It is a purely useless mandate that will not stop the spread of Covid-19 nor has the consideration of someone who has already recovered from the virus and is more protected than someone who has only received the vaccine. To require students to receive this vaccine would only play into a narrative and give many people a false sense of security. We must advocate that the mandate is reversed and that new options would be considered such as antibody testing or even better, to let students choose if they want to get the vaccine or not without facing academic consequences.
