Adequate Signs for Children's Safety

My family and I are current residents at the Riley Centre on Walnut Street in Riley. We have lived here for a few years. Recently we have had more and more teenage drivers speed through this area. For those of you that live in Riley, you know that the housing down on the corner of West and Walnut street just happens to be the housing where all of the families with children are. I am sharing this with you as a parent and as a friend, because all drivers that do not obey the STOP SIGN, need to be stopped. Accidents happen and I'm not only looking out for my children, but the other children in the same complex as my family, as well as the rest of the neighborhood.
My goal with this petition is to gather the support of the community. We need to stick together, especially when it comes to the safety of our young. In an average day, there are about 3-5 cars that do not stop at the sign. Generally, this happens between 3 and 8 pm. I will continue to call and report each vehicle to RCPD. ALSO, I will be taking this to the city council and asking for multiple signs to be put up, to alert drivers that this is a CHILDREN AT PLAY ZONE.
I will not stand by idly anymore and by chance, an accident happen because of this. I ask that you as parents speak with your kids about driving safely and being alert to all signs around them. I also ask for your support in this matter. I do hope that the city decides to post signs as well as a 20mph sign on West Street. However, I am hoping to present this petition to them, in order to prove the importance of this matter. Other people's lives are at risk because of poor driving. Help me make a difference, not only for my children, but for the other children in our neighborhood.
