I am a mother of an inmate. My fiancé and my daughter both tested positive by the Ion Scanner. My daughter was harassed and intimidated by a guard in the institution following the test. No one sees eves to be treated like that.

This is emotional torture, for people who have been already going through hard time to grasp the reality how their life have been painfully changed of the circumstances, but they have to accept and respect authorities including" false positive ion scanner."

I have seen that a false positive has happened with someone I know who was visiting an institution and have also seen the consequences of this mistake. It is truly unfair.

The ion scanner is unreliable and does nothing in the fight against drugs in penitentiaries. It victimizes innocent people who visit loved ones inside causing uncalled for grief, stress, and negative file information for the inmate. Its use/abuse violates our Charter rights and for this reason alone, it needs to be taken out of our pens.

Because clearly something is wrong and needs to be addressed, and this isn't the first time I've witnessed or heard of people/ cops / jails... Treating visitors like absolute shit

I have endured this stressful situation while visiting my loved one. It is beyond embarrassing knowing that you have done nothing wrong but are made to feel as if you have. It's terrible.

Something needs to be done about this, you need to feel like you belong, not feel terrified when you walk through those doors to go visit a loved one
