Why this petition matters

Started by Tara Lorraine

I mean no disrespect for Dr Morrison's recovery plan. I just feel that a bubble added at a future stage of the plans would benefit many people. Including many businesses that will be reopening. As a single parent, with the current recovery plan, not much has changed for me, and not much will through the rest of the stages. Without a bubble I can't take one kid to go do a socially distant visit with their friends, I have to take them both. I can't leave them to grocery shop, let alone go have a socially distant visit with another adult.

No bubble at any stage of the recovery process, means that single people and single parents have lost a lot of things.

No physical contact with another adult.(If recovery last for months which it may, how harmful is this to people's well being)

Children of single parents have only one person from whom they can seek physical comfort and compassion. (a bubble family would allow them to get and receive hugs from other children and adults in their bubble family)

No meals with another adult. No sharing of food with anyone outside of your household. The only break a single person/parent can get from preparing meals themselves is to get take out. Great your going to open restaurants, do people really want to go and eat alone at a restaurant. (with a bubble at a future stage you could attend and sit at the same table with your bubble family)

No free child care for single parents to have a break from parenting. I understand that couple's can provide this for each other.  Single parents have been without a break for over 8 weeks, you expect this to continue beyond June 12, and for how long after that? A bubble would allow single parents to grocery shop alone, without taking the kids. A bubble would give single parents a chance to have a socially distance visit with other friends or family, an adult conversation that their children can't overhear.

Staycation on PEI this summer to help the economy! Single people/parents are not going to want to go on vacation alone, stay alone in accommodations, or go to attractions by themselves. eat a lobster supper, go deep sea fishing, or many other activities they might partake in, if they had a bubble, that would make all these things possible.

If you want to make it possible for every islander to have some easing of restrictions, and be able to take advantage of many of the things that are being made available to couples or groups that live together in the same household, allowing a bubble, so single people/parents can also participate should be considered.
