We, the residents of 64th Street between Ridge and Richmond, request that the Village of Westmont install curb and gutter and widen the street on the east half of the street on both north and south sides during its road repaving project in September 2022. The street condition has deteriorated terribly in recent years due to construction and must now be fixed. Many of us have built or bought homes along the unfinished east side since 2017 and were informed by the prior Village Engineer that curb and gutter would be installed once the majority of houses were built or sold, anticipated to be within 5 years, hereby completing the construction on this street. We have been waiting intently for the fulfillment of this agreement and were extremely disappointed to learn recently that the Village is reneging on its intention and removed this condition from the original plan to now only repave the road and keep the original ditch line. We have spent a great deal of money on our lots and homes with the understanding and expectation of imminent curb and gutter and street addition. Some of us may have already paid into the future curb and gutter as a deposit with the village during new home construction.

We petition the Village administrators Stephen May & Dawn Wucki-Rossbach and Village Engineer Anthony Bryant for curb and gutter be installed and for widening the street alongside fixing the asphalt for a thorough reconstruction project now, as opposed to a future date. It is unreasonable to expect us to wait another 5 to 10 years for the fulfillment of this project when we are facing difficulties now.  As well as a more efficient use of our taxpayer money. 

With the west half of the street already having a curb, gutter, and a widened street, it would help immensely with uniform curb appeal and home values in our neighborhood. Since new house construction, there is increased foot traffic, including of children and strollers, and recreational devices like scooters, bicycles on the street. A widened street and curb will allow people and the subsequently increased vehicle traffic to share the street safely and easily. A gutter will also help in the management of water drainage alongside the retention basins that have been installed. We request the entirety of this project to be completed now.
