10 times a week (5 days, twice a day) every student that attends Oakland Tech in-person must travel from their home to their school. Over half of the students at Tech drive or are driven in a car to school. But, cars are one of the main greenhouse gas emitters. Using gas cars daily is not friendly for the environment. So our team is attempting to make BIKING and PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION --the two most time-efficient eco-friendly ways of transportation for scholars-- accessible and available for all Tech students. The primary conditions preventing students from biking or using public transportation are the bus/Bart fees and the lack of bike racks. By filling out this petition, you are adding your support to our cause and encouraging OUSD to install more bike racks and consider distributing free bus cards.
