All-Star Weekend carries the responsibility of showing the world the magic that is carried within the game. Whether it be from outstanding shooting performances at the three-point competition, to immense athletic displays at the dunk contest, or the celebration of talent during the NBA All-Star game, they are all dedicated to a weekend of fun in order to celebrate a game we all love.

The game is especially feeling less whole now due to the tragic passing of Kobe Bryant. Kobe Bryant was the man who worked harder than everyone else. Everyone has their Kobe story. The killer instinct, the spirit of competition, the Mamba Mentality, is one of many things he brought to this game to share with all of us. He preached that nobody could beat him in one on one.  A prominent and touching way to honor Kobe Bryant's legacy would be to implement an aspect of the game that he thought was immensely important into the All-Star weekend. Let people, and the fans, see our favorite players embody the spirit competition through one-on-one games during the break.

Rules would be simple. Players would challenge one another, and the match would only go through if the challenged player accepts. Ball checked up at the top of the key. First to 11, ones and twos. Win by two. It's just between them. It's just for the competition. All we ask is that you let us watch.
