We are writing this petition to bring into your notice a massive dip in the grades of the students in the recent declaration of the University Results of the November-December (2019) examination. Final year students of English Honours (III Year) across many colleges of University of Delhi have been dismayed by the appalling drop in their Semester Grade Point Average (SGPA) for the previous semester. A similar problem has been noticed by second year students of many colleges.

The University Results were declared on 5th May, already delayed by more than five months, owing to the prolonged DUTA strikes in the university. Almost every student, across many colleges, has complained of the acute dip in the aggregate result. The students who have remained in 7+ plus range in past four semesters have scored in a range of 5-6 grade point in their 5th Semester. Similarly, there seems to be an average marking basis that can be noticed in papers with a DSE paper mostly marked a 7 while core papers having negligible 8 and above grade point while the question papers were pretty straightforward. Students had expected a better result in this odd semester.

Students who had maintained a consistent performance throughout the semesters have been astounded by the anomalous dip in their marks, which has gone down considerably. Such a descent had been unprecedented in the previous semesters. Also, those who had 20+ marks in their internal assessment have only managed to score 6 in some of the core papers despite completely attempting an easy question paper. There seems to be a huge disparity in these Internal Assessment and External Examination marks. This can be noticed in results across B.A. Honours English, DU.

Such low scores will make it difficult for students to apply to Universities outside of the country, business schools and other merit based platforms.
Also, revaluation of answer scripts proves to be a time consuming process with a few faults that students have experienced in the past and the cost of applying for it becomes problematic for some who find it difficult to afford the process.

We kindly request you to look into this matter and request you to re-evaluate the answer scripts or find a reasonable solution to this problem.

Yours sincerely,
Students
