Activia Yogurt: Stop putting Carmine in your Products
Many people do not know that Carmine is a coloring from the Cochineal Insect, and it can have hazardous side effects. When I did a little research and discovered that there were companies out there putting bug acid in their products, I was appalled. Carmine can cause anaphylactic shock and severe allergic reactions! I am a fourteen year old girl, and I recognize the risks this ingredient poses to people. Immidiately, I began to think about ways that I could stop companies from putting bugs in yogurt, juice, ice cream, candy, and more. If companies do want to keep the bugs in the product, they should be required to inform you when they put Carmine in their food by publicly changing the label on their ingredient list to say "Cochineal Insect" instead of just "Carmine". This color is also known as "Natural Red Four" in some products. We should tell people to keep Carmine away!
