Madison Truax Air National Guard Base is a on a list of locations for bases that may be chosen to receive F-35 fighter jets to replace the current F-16s over time. The final decision has not been made. Now is the moment to speak out against it! The Greater Madison Chamber of Commerce is supporting bringing the F-35s to Madison. However, the Chamber DOES NOT speak for all businesses in Madison. Here is a chance for all business owners--large and small--to register their opposition to these louder, more powerful jets coming to Madison. A government issued Environmental Impact Statement revealed that, if Madison is chosen as the site, surrounding neighborhoods will experience noise pollution at damaging levels. It predicts at least 132 residences in a ring around the base will be "incompatible with residential use." Thousands of residents on the east and north sides of Madison will be adversely affected by this. There are multiple other reasons to oppose the F-35s.
