It's only been two days into remote learning and our schedule has been changed from 8:30 AM - 12:30 PM to 11:00 AM - 3:30 PM. Tinian students have used the old online class schedule since covid started without any problem and now the BOE wants to change it? For what? We students especially the Sophomores(10th grade) and Juniors(11th grade) are the busiest among the high school, from having our own personal matters like church, work(For the Juniors that isn't a part of school/co-op), (etc.). We have cleared our own schedules to match the online class schedules but now we have to change it again? "I'd rather wake up early and get the work done so I have the rest of the day off" came from a sophomore student, One of the Juniors said, "If our classes start in the afternoon we won't have an asynchronous time period to actively get help from teachers without waiting". For Tinian, we have no point having classes in the afternoon when we aren't the ones in need of a schedule change. When we students heard that we would be going back to black board ultra and google classroom sessions, we were all prepared for the schedule, but now that it has been changed, we have to redo our entire schedule to match the schools. That isn't fair for us students because we were all doing fine. we could ask for help from 12:35 PM - 3:30 PM but now we can't and even if we complete any assignments posted up before a collaborate call, or google meet we still have attendance and that would be wasting our time that was supposed to be used on something such as work, church, family, chores, (etc.). That's why I would like the students of Tinian to sign this because the PSS motto is "Students first" so they should put our concerns and needs first and change Tinian's afternoon schedule back to the original Morning schedule.
