This week it was announced that Hills Radio 88.9fm was unsuccessful in a bid to secure a full time license to broadcast in Mt Barker, meaning they will go off air as of 30th September 2020.

Hills Radio is an award winning community radio station that has been a voice to the Adelaide Hills for over six years and it would be devastating to lose the station. This is a sad time for many loyal listeners of the station, as well as the 70 volunteers who put many hours of work each week into producing 41 live and local shows and keeping Hills Radio on air.

We need to show that Hills Radio 88.9fm matters to many people in the Adelaide Hills and we can not afford to lose it.

We need your help to keep Hills Radio 88.9fm on air in the Adelaide Hills!

The management and staff of Hills Radio 88.9fm are disappointed by the Australian Communications and Media Authority decision not to allocate a Long Term Community Radio Broadcasting Licence to the station.

The Vice Chairman of the Hills Radio Board, Mr Shawn Hutchinson, said an ACMA representative advised the station management of the decision on Wednesday.

“This decision takes the station off-air. However, the station will continue to broadcast via Internet streaming and are investigating the possibilities of podcasts. Obviously the decision by the ACMA has devastated our 70 volunteers and two employees who work tirelessly and enthusiastically to make this radio station a vital part of Mount Barker and the Hills community,” Mr Hutchinson said
