What I wear does NOT define nor affect who I am personally. I should be able to wear whatever I want and not get harrassed or called a slut, whore, etc. If you don't like the way I dress, that isn't my problem. Go cry about it for all I care. I don't dress for you, I dress for myself. I dress this way to feel confident about myself, not to get attention. There's a difference to showing up to school half naked and wearing a freaking tank top. Yeah, going to school in a bikini is not ok but I should be allowed to wear a tank top and shorts when its like 90° out. Some people say its because "it'll distract the boys" that's an issue by itself. The dress codes at school are outdated and sexist. I have NEVER seen a guy get dress coded for wearing a tank top and shorts. Girls have gotten dress coded for bra straps showing, as if we have to be fearful of people knowing we wear bras. It's not okay. The problem is not with what I wear, the problem is everything today is so sexualized. Sexualizing is taught, and the kids who are taught right do not sexualize people for what they wear. Maybe instead of punishing girls for the actions and thoughts of others, the people sexualizing and harassing them should be punished.
