Guelph, our taxes are ridiculous.  Wouldn't you like to pay less?

Our mayor recently recently approved a 50 million dollar budget for the Guelph police.  Our officers already make more than the average Guelph household (120,000$ to 90,000$ respectively).

Did you know that our mayor sits on the board of directors for the Guelph Police and through that virtue is writing himself a raise every time he writes the police one?

The Guelph Police Farce is also responsible for the lion's share of our tax dollars.  I hear everyone, myself included, complaining about the library funding.  The library is 3.8% of our taxes whereas the Police here are 17.8%.  The next highest drain on your tax money? Social Services at 8.9%.  The police are paid more than double with our tax dollars than any other service.

This is not right.  

They are poorly trained.  Corey Macarthur beat a minor strapped to a hospital bed in front of at least 2 other officers.  

NONE OF THEM SAID ANYTHING.  The hospital had to make a complaint and release footage of the assault.  Corey Macarthur is still being paid by our taxes.  

They are allowed to drink and drive.  Margaret Picard was caught by the OPP on our streets while intoxicated, when asked about by the actual officer in the OPP she responded by saying it was okay as she was an officer with Guelph.  Also still employed by the Guelph Police Farce.

We had an officer who passed away. Guelph Police fought to not release details of the accident that took her life.  Why would they do that?  She was doing 110 km/h down a street rated 50 km/h. Endangering the lives of everyone living on Imperial road.  She lost control (obviously) and careened into a, thankfully out of service, city bus.  They honor her by placing her name on a race car.  She was trained by Corey Macarthur.  I grieve for her and I grieve for the future of our police force under our current regime.

Lets get our mayor to request a quote from the OPP, lower taxes and keep a clean Guelph.
