I'm signing because my parents weren't given the chance to decide a English school for my education. As a Montrealer, speaking English is very important.

The last straw for me was The Burgundy Lion being targeted for a tiny sign that said "Trip Advisor Approved" or something like that. Really. The last straw...This city should be bilingual; signs should be in French predominantly, with English writing somewhere on the sign; if it's an Indian restaurant or a place of any other ethnicity, French should be predominant and they should be allowed to have something written in their own language on the sign or in the restaurant. The OLF has become ridiculous. French, absolutely. I'm proud of that. Bilingual, absolutely. To be otherwise is not benefitting us as a society or as individuals.

I'm signing because Montreal is a wonderful place full of wonderful people and we are unique and not like the rest of French Quebec.

It is single underhandedly manipulative to strip Montreal from once being Canada's #1 city. Are language legislation that economically viable in sustaining global resources and communication? Governments intentions need to be reviewed.
