Accepting the combination of two OET settings to eligible for plab
Why this petition matters
Dear Sir/Madam,
We as doctors, acknowledge the importance of having a good level of English proficiency in order to work as a doctor in the UK. Therefore, we must pass either IELTS or OET exams. It is worth mentioning that these exams are extremely expensive and are made in a way not to focus on the language proficiency rather than time and stress management. It is not fair for any health professionals to repeat all four subtests if he/she fail in one of them. As a result, we would be grateful if you could re-evaluate the possibility of accepting the combination of two OET tests so the applicant will have grade B or above in listening, reading, writing and speaking.
You, as a General Medical Council cares more about fairness of obtaining grade B or above in the four subtests because that means that the applicant has the proficiency to live and work as a doctor in the UK.
In view of the above , please consider the above mentioned request to accept the combination of two OET tests as a condition to be registered as a doctor in the UK.
We as doctors from the world, thank you very much if you accept this justicefull decision, and we would love to serve and support the health system and NHS in the UK.
Yours faithfully
Doctors
