People who had filed for asylum domestically had been waiting too long. The USCIS was supposed to schedule an interview for asylum seekers within 45 days since the day they filed the application. However, asylum seekers who filed from 2015 to 2017 are still waiting for an interview. Now, asylum seekers who filed during the pandemic are seeing no hope in getting an interview soon. Please sign this petition to urge asylum offices to accelerate the domestic asylum seeker interview scheduling. Asylum seekers are experiencing particular hard situations, dealing with PTSD, separation from family members (children, spouses etc), challenges settling in a new country, acculturation and so on. The notoriously long wait time is worsening the problem.
