QUIET PLEASE! ... FOR EAST HAMPTON TOWN, NEW YORK

We need our peace and quiet! There is currently NO time on any day during which we are not assaulted on our own properties by the noise of leaf blowers, lawn mowers, and construction. Current law is based on decibel levels, which are useless for enforcement, and noise is allowed on all days from 7 am to 8:30 pm.
We hereby urge the East Hampton Town Board to adopt meaningful regulations of the hours during which loud equipment can be used.
The Village of East Hampton has such a code, which would be a good place to start. It allows homeowners to use their own equipment on weekends, but limits the hours of their operations to allow some portion of the weekend to be noise free for their neighbors. Commercial operation is likewise allowed but restricted to fewer hours on weekends. No one will be prevented from maintaining their property, and ALL citizens will benefit from the peaceful enjoyment of their homes!
