The Forgotten Bridge of Acadia is dedicated to the restoration of the original Rt 3 view and maintenance of Duck Brook Motor Bridge in Bar Harbor, Maine.  Millions of citizens and visitors to Acadia National Park have never seen this beautiful historic pink granite bridge and do not know of it's existence, even though it is the largest of the Acadia bridges. It is totally obscured by overgrowth. Not maintaining the view was a mistake, as by todays values, this bridge would cost millions of dollars to build and it remains hidden.  Duck Brook Motor Bridge, (The Forgotten Bridge of Acadia) is the largest bridge of it's kind east of the Mississippi and a gem of Acadia National Park, yet seeing this unique monument to the Greatest Generation and John D Rockefeller Jr,'s generosity has been denied to everyone for many years.

This effort is important to me as my father, Avon Robert Klotz returned from WWll to Bar Harbor and with other WWll Veterans and others toiled to build this beautiful bridge and my children and grandchildren cannot even see it. The Forgotten Bridge of Acadia is a testament not only to America's best idea, it's National Parks, but also to the determination of the World War ll  generation.  Duck Brook Motor Bridge sits on the edge of Acadia National Park, right beside Rt. 3, which is main road into Bar Harbor.  Please advocate with us to return Duck Brook Motor Bridge, which is a functional piece of art to it's rightful place as one of the jewels of Acadia and Bar Harbor, Maine as well.
