After 9 amazing years as the leading actor of the hit television series, The Walking Dead, Andrew Lincoln's epic portrayal of Deputy Rick Grimes deserves an Emmy Nomination for his final performance in Season 9, Ep. 5, "What Comes After."  Not only was his final performance Emmy worthy, his performance moved new, existing, and past viewers of The Walking Dead, and facilitated the dramatic change to the scope and vista of the series. Andrew Lincoln truly is the leading man in television entertainment, and his portrayal of Rick Grimes deserves serious consideration from the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences and AMC. This nomination not only recognizes Andrew Lincoln for his superb talent and story telling skills as an actor, it demonstrates the openness and breadth of the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, in its ability to accept non-traditional genres in future Emmy nominations and considerations.

Despite how it might seem, Emmy nominations are not decided by random happenstance. They are the result of a long and complicated process involving For Your Consideration campaigns from studios, networks, and the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. It is a process that is more far-reaching and calculated than you might expect.  To get a sense of just how far-reaching and calculated it is, you need look no further than Emmy nominations ballot, or essentially the nominations for the nominations. It’s an overwhelming document, featuring dozens upon dozens of actors and TV shows being submitted for consideration.

Our voice as fans can be heard if we come together and let the Academy and AMC know that Andrew Lincoln deserves consideration!
