Problem
Kevin Hart, a man of color, was forced to step down in the wake of comments made nearly a decade ago in the form of comedic jokes. We feel that this was an unfair situation forced upon him by a vocal minority of individuals who serve no other purpose than to attempt to disrupt and divide us by seeking out sources of past activities to bring to the light in order to allow them to then declare their 'outrage' and displeasure.
Solution
Kanye West has been a controversial but highly visible African American entertainer with many ties to Hollywood and celebrities. He is an accomplished artist, business man, and activist with magnetic stage presence and an open book life in regards to his dealings. His transgressions are known already to the majority of those who recognize his name. He would be fun and exciting addition to the show as host and would guarantee millions of watchers, many of whom are of color, something the Oscars desperately need in light of their lack of people of color participating, being nominated, and/or winning awards for their work and dedication to stage and screen-craft. If we are going to not have Kevin Hart, a hard working member of the community hosting as a man of color, then he should be replaced by an equal man of stature, reputation, ethnicity and size.
Personal story
We are people of color who are tired of our people being marginalized and dismissed for inane reasons whenever an opportunity for a person of color to be in the spotlight arrives. If we are to lose a person hosting due to comments a few find offensive then they should be replaced with another person of similar stature and influence to represent our community to demonstrate there is no sinister agenda to marginalize people of color in entertainment. By choosing Kanye we feel we have found an example to allow the academy to prove its willingness to assuage Black concerns and not simply choose a black person to Sambo in as an industry puppet designed to lure in blacks while having a person of color whites and non-black groups find "privilege friendly."
